I started a 5 week course in stained glass which I have wanted to try so years and finally found a course that suited my schedule. Here are my initial design drawings and colour sample for creating the cut line design.

This is week 2 progress with cut line design and cut pieces in the colours available this week…

The photo doesn’t do any justice to the colours as they are purple and fuchsia along with royal blue and patterned and textured clear. I took peacock colours as the theme as they are my favourite and with light shining through it will look stunning!

Having previously learned to cut glass during my BA degree, I didn’t find the cutting difficult but my progress was slow as I was waiting for the colours I needed and sharing equipment such as a set square. I was also very neat and accurate which wasn’t the case with some of the other people on the course.

This will be my first development of a drawing from my year long drawing project into a final piece so I am really looking forward to seeing the final object. The image is taken from my drawing of the Old Gaol Museum in Buckingham for the month of November as shown below…

I will post the stages of production as I complete them to show my progress. I look forward to reading your comments.
