I attended the Made in the Middle Symposium today at the University of Wolverhampton in the School of Art and Design building along with other makers and thoroughly enjoyed the day. The lectures were fascinating and it was another great opportunity to network with people in the industry who understand what it is to be a maker and creative by nature. I was also able to ask the speakers a question during the panel review discussion at the end of the day which was a great opportunity to extract more from their experiences to share with the group. I will certainly be checking back on the Made in the Middle blog for additional links mentioned during the day by the speakers!
After the symposium there was a mini-bus provided to take people to and from the exhibition at Bilston Craft Gallery to view the work. This is the third time I have seen the exhibition now, but each time I visit a collection, I find myself being intrigues by something new, or noticing something I hadn’t before. I was also able to start discussions with people I hadn’t done until then which was also a good opportunity I embraced, highlighting the importance of events like this and to take any opportunity that comes along.
