Today I put three glass kilns on – two with scraps of glass from the hot shop: for jewellery from “found waste” to re-use it and the other has larger pieces which I hope will fuse together as they did in a firing I had the other day. I want them to form a large sheet of glass (which has already had colour mixed into it) which shows movement in the way the colour is mixed onto it. This will form the background of the piece with a dancer added onto the top surface. The third kiln has the refractory mould in the form of a 3D line drawing showing a leg and foot in the style of my other drawings. I have used a 4mm thick sheet of float glass to slump over it. I want to try an bring the drawing to life by bringing it into three dimensions.
